Our Story: It All Started With an Empty Ceiling Vent

Hi, I’m Gavin Shen, founder of Amorair.

I moved to the U.S. in 2015, where I met my wife, Winnie—a second-generation immigrant who grew up here. After years of renting, we finally achieved our American dream in 2023: our first home in Los Angeles. We celebrated, exhausted our savings, and moved in, ready to start this new chapter.

But right after moving in, a builder pointed to an empty vent in our ceiling and said, "You need to install an air filter and change it regularly."

That moment hit me hard. I had lived in the U.S. for 10 years and not once had I bought or replaced an air filter. Suddenly, I was overwhelmed with questions.
